Bracken Public Relations won the PRCA Award for the “Best Corporate Public Relations Campaign” , for its work on behalf of Bank of Scotland (Ireland). The “Bringing Change to Irish Banking” campaign highlighted the lack of competition in Irish banking and barriers to increased competition, by generating extensive and sustained coverage in the national business media.

Another objective of the campaign was to position Bank of Scotland (Ireland) Ltd as the champion of competition in Irish banking by highlighting the Bank’s recommendations for improvement. Support to BOSI marketing efforts was yet another key ingredient in the campaign.

Bracken Public Relations has handled public relations for the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) and its predecessor Equity Bank since 1997. The firm played a key role in the introduction of the Bank of Scotland’s mortgage operation into the Irish market in 1999, and the rebranding of Equity Bank as Bank of Scotland (Ireland) in 2000. The firm has implemented a public relations programme to support marketing efforts and increasing the profile of the Bank, all aimed at helping the Bank attain its declared goal of becoming Ireland’s number 1 business bank by 2005.

In January 2006, Bracken PR handled the launch of the Bank’s retail network – the first completely new retail banking network in Ireland for over a century – and was again short listed for the PRCA Awards.
